Matt Eastman is a director living in downtown Toronto.
His darkly comic digital series Whatever, Linda —produced by Secret Location and Touchpoint Films—is currently being developed for television with showrunner Graeme Manson (Orphan Black, Snowpiercer) and is headed to the Cannes Dramatic Forum at MIPCOM 2018. For his work on Linda, Matt won Best Director at both the Indie Series and IAWTV Awards in LA.
Matt has developed longform content with Fox Studios and Nickolodeon in the US, and Showcase TV in Canada. He’s currently busy shopping around his first feature, Hype Man.
As an advertising director, he’s been everywhere from Singapore to Santiago, directing pop stars in Shanghai, coffee klatch in Kiev, and skateboarding skunks in Jakarta. Matt’s 2016 Skittles Campaign won a Bronze Lion at Cannes, and his work has been featured in Creativity, FastCoCreate, FWA Site of the Day, and Google’s Creative Sandbox.
He recently wrapped a teaser for Ming’s Dynasty, a TV comedy about two big-city rappers who get saddled with running a small town Chinese restaurant in the sticks. Stay tuned for more.
Matt obsessively travels the globe looking for that perfect early 90s rap record or killer breakbeat, and is fond of visiting his parents in the hippie haven of Maynooth Ontario, where, in the summer, he obsessively hunts for new and undiscovered swimming holes.
